Interview with Dave Lucci – A3C Tennessee Stage 2014

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman October 6, 2014 11:16 am Tagged With: Atlanta, Hip Hop, Nashville, United States

Dave Lucci - Benjamin Bros ClothingLet’s break the ice. Who are you?

Its Ya Man Dave Lucci! A smart charismatic outgoing fly dude with the best of both worlds #YaFeelMe “smiles”…can I use hashtags? Lol

#goforithomie , Where are you from?

Im from the south side of Nashville,Tn from a community called Edgehill.

What style of music do you create?

I would say i make mood music meaning it just depends on what mood I’m in that’s why I hate to say if I’m a hip hop or a rap artist I just give you me all of me at the end of the day

How do you feel about the Hip Hop scene in Tennessee? A small sect of you guys have obviously realized unity brings greater things landing a TN Stage at A3C Fest… I can tell you with confidence that moves like this were not happening in indie Mid-TN Hip Hop 5-10-even 15 years ago.

Its most definitely has gotten better and I love it!… referring back to the 1st question when I said “best of both worlds” that’s a part of my meaning because im old enough to had seen/heard the early stages of Tn Hip Hop from Skinny Pimp Ball & G 3-6mafia Playa Fly’s Haystak Pistol Blow pop Boogie until who we have today like Gotti Buck Dolph Star Myself etc etc and the unity is waaay better not where I think it should be but who’s perfect we working

In my opinion, Kelly Hite doesn’t get enough shine for the amount of grind she’s been putting in over the years. How has she been shaping and affecting the Nashville Hip Hop scene from your point of view?

I can’t speak for everybody else but I see Kelly as family we been working long before this I seen the ups and downs with her and the growth is wonderful. The grind is unexplainable. She running a lot and got a lot going on the low shes the “plug” “the connect” “The shooter” “the blogger” need I say more. With all that said the grind will and won’t be overlooked for long here’s another has tag #WeGonGetTheseBlessings

Word to Dj Moneygreen.

What was the last song you listened to?

Woow that’s a good question because i was on Worldstar lol so I actually think It was Stalley “Everything a dope boy every wanted” or either The Lox “No Selfies”

Who or what influenced/motivated you to walk this journey known as music? What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve faced since starting down this path?

I 1st grasp a hold to music when I seen and was terrified of the Michael Jackson “Thriller” song/video maaaan! Lol but that made me wanna do music I use to dance a lot.I actually started off wanting to be a Dj. My mom had the record crates for days and my father who been Mia no Miami but that’s another story brother had the double turntables with the studio set up. So after messing up his Purple rain album moms got me a little turntable for myself my 1st records were Run DMC & Ll cool Jay..Bone Thugs made me wanna rap

They were doope..Life is 1 of the biggest challenges I’ve encountered since I been down this path from seeing the game change adapting and changing but remain the same to my style and message. Life as far as bills kids studio sacrifices so much. The good thing about it is I have it to a science now u just gotta try to balance it all out from being a father and a artist.

Where do you want to be in 10 years?

I wouldn’t wanna say I don’t wanna be rapping all I can say is how the world is today I just wanna be successful where my families families are set for life and I hope we all here in 10 years the way this world is

What should the audience expect from your performance at the A3C Tennessee Stage on October 11th?

Originality, stage presence, energy, laughter all in all Good show with Good music and merch everywhere Lil shout out #BenjaminBrothersClothing

What does this opportunity (A3C TN Stage) mean to you? How do you think it will effect your career from this moment forward?

1st off its a blessing because somebody went out on the edge for me and im not even talking bout the ones I know just being to express my craft as a whole is blessing thanks A3c Kelly & Dj Money green again!

I also know that a lot of “unknown” acts have got discovered so ima most definitely seize the moment. Somebody out there wants to see what Ten has to offer and um happy to be able to show that at the 1st #TnStage at the 10th anniversary of #A3c now that’s #Heavy
