Interview with Float as the Ghost – MusicTree Fest 2014 #MTF14

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman April 14, 2014 12:55 pm

MusicTree Fest will be taking place in Manchester, Tennessee – June 6-7, 9-10. We will be publishing interviews with the performing bands as we close in on the 3rd year of this festival. View the full line-up.

Catastrofico EP by Float as the GhostLet’s start with the basics, who are you? Where are you from? What style of music do you create?

We are Float as the Ghost. We’re from middle TN and southern KY. We play folky/atmospheric/progressive chill jams.

This is MusicTree Fest’s 3rd year. Is this your first time? If yes, how did you learn about MusicTree?

This will be our first time playing Music Tree, and we were informed by The Django Riders.

Was there an “ah-ha moment” in your life when you knew you would pursue music?

I’ve played music my whole life, so there was never really a doubt that I would pursue it all of my days.

Who (or what) motivates and inspires your writing and playing style(s)?

Local Natives, City and Colour, Alt-J, Ben Howard, Shakey Graves

What can we expect from your performance at MusicTree Fest 2014?

Excitement! Entertainment! Music?

Where can we connect with you online? Where can we listen or download your music?

  • facebook.com/floatastheghost
  • floatastheghost.bandcamp.com
  • soundcloud.com/floatastheghost

Do you have plans for Bonnaroo this year?

Unfortunately we will not be able to attend Bonnaroo, though we’re dying to. Business before pleasure!
