Interview with KOK

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman October 20, 2014 9:19 am Tagged With: Hip Hop, rap

KoKLet’s break the ice. Who are you? Where are you from? What style of music do you create?

Hey this is Eric Triplett aka KOK. I’m a hip hop artist who does conscience rap. K.o.K which stands for KING of KINGS.

Is KOK an acronym? How did you decide on this as your stage name?

KING of KINGS. Which is not a religious acronym. T.I. Is the king of the south, Jay Z is the king of New York and I am king over all.

Who or what were your earliest influences? What motivated you to choose music as your path?

I am a huge Tupac fan, as well as Bizzy bone loaded Lux and Nas. I choose music as an outlet for my perception of life.

How do you feel about the current state of Hip Hop? Mainstream, underground, or otherwise?

State of hip hop?? Pathetic.

Is the Internet helping you connect with fans and gain exposure? Have you had to overcome any challenges?

I chose music as an outlet for my perception of life.. Too many challenges but allow me to say, those who did not make me , YOU CANNOT BREAK ME.

What’s in the works for KOK for the rest of 2014? What should we expect?

I have a show November 7th at prairie state college.

Where can we connect with you online? Where can people stream your music?

I have two singles on iTunes ChIraq and it is what it is. I also have music on YouTube. Just search ChIraq, it is what it is, take it away by j love featuring kok and treat you like a wife by kok. I am also on sound cloud under Eric Triplett. Facebook under Eric BatmanForever Triplett.
