Interview with Xoch – an ordinary girl in extraordinary circumstances

What is your favorite part of performing an intimate acoustic show? …and what’s the best part of performing with your band in a bigger venues?

I enjoy performing both acoustic and electric equally. There’s nothing like getting up on a huge stage with amps, lights and putting on a fun show! But there’s also nothing like getting intimate and really connecting with your audience when you play acoustic. It’s a whole other level. When playing acoustically, for me, it’s all about the strength of the songs and lyrics in their most basic form, and I feel it really allows me to shine as a vocalist. I get to connect with the audience on a more personal, intimate level. I love each process for its own circumstances.

Your music has been licensed by major entities over 60 times. Considering your sound has mass appeal, what’s been key to that success?

I’m not just an artist, I’m a “smartist.” I do my homework. I am constantly on the hunt looking for opportunities to get my music out there in one way or another. Licensing has been tremendous for me and I am pleased that there are people and companies out there who like what I do. In today’s musical landscape, you not only have to be good at music, you also have to be good at business too. I enjoy both aspects because ultimately no one is going to care about your career more than you. I follow my head and my heart with every decision I make.

Is the Internet/social media helping you connect with fans and expand your reach?

I think the internet has been a good thing for artists to reach new markets and fans with their music, but I try not to get too caught up in social media. I see it as a tool and a supplement to market my music, but is still about the music first and foremost for me. Technology is ever changing in the information age and what is hot right now will become passe in a matter of time. What is great about the internet in general is that it is readily available and a great way to network.

Where can we connect with you online? Stream or buy your music?

My music is available for purchase through many digital distributors such as CDBaby, Itunes, Amazon, etc. You can also connect with me at the following links-

Where can fans catch you live? Any tours coming up?

I am releasing a new CD very shortly so, I am getting ready to put together some dates in support of the release. Right now, I am focused on marketing and releasing the new album. I post my shows on my sites, so stay tuned….

Any last thoughts? Shout outs?

I would say be true to yourself and be the unique individual that you are. Honor your dreams and make the most of each and every moment! Thank you to my wonderful band mates – Vince Ripper, Skokie G & Wilham – it is an honor and privilege to share the stage and the dream with you! Thank you to the fans for your support – you are truly appreciated and I never underestimate the importance of each and every one of you!

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
