JAAP Releases What I’m Here For

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman November 13, 2014 2:21 pm Tagged With: singer, songwriter, World

What Im Here For by JAAP Holding true to the DIY ethos, JAAP has been working hard for the past couple of years on his new album What I’m Here For.

When asked why it took so long, JAAP replied,

The reason it has taken this long is that, after trying hard and long to find the “right” people to work with, it became apparent that doing it all myself would be quicker and the whole thing would reflect my work and my ideas much better than working with others. Due to the fact that a lot of the songs are quite personal and I have a clear idea of what I wanted my music, my songs to be about and how they should be arranged and orchestrated, working alone made the whole thing much easier.

I know that feeling!

A singer-songwriter of world music, JAAP carries on the universal spirit of great acts such as Billy Joel and Paul Simon. Although What I’m Here For is filled with personal songs, they are songs with which a wide range of listeners from a wide range of backgrounds can relate.

What I’m Here For is soulful music from the human heart for the human heart.

Born in Spain, raised in England, and 20 years living in Germany; JAAP has a pool of experiences, relationships, and cultures which fuel him with inspiration.

You can find more photos, videos, lyrics and more on JAAP’s official website.

After leading several projects like “entre Amigos”, cd: “Sudden Move” or “Whitehouse”, cd: “Games” with my good friend Stephan Simon, touring the south of Germany for years and having a song from “Games” on no less than 3 episodes of the award winning US tv series “The Shield”, I felt the time had come at last to really do it all myself.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
