JIM PHOTOGLO RELEASES HALLS OF MY HEART MUSIC VIDEO

by Featured Guest September 18, 2014 12:38 pm

LEAD VIDEO FROM HIS CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED ALBUM FEATURES HIS TEENAGE SON, GRIFFIN

SEPTEMBER 17, 2014 (Nashville, TN) – Folk singer/songwriter Jim Photoglo releases the title-track music video from his acclaimed new album, Halls of My Heart, today, September 17. Photoglo’s fans were given a sneak peek of the video September 16, which was shot at the home of his friend, renowned producer Josh Leo (Alabama, Love and Theft). Leo also produced Photoglo’s seminal #1 songwriting hit, Fishin’ in The Dark.

Musing about the video and album Photoglo says, “The father-son relationship theme runs throughout my CD. All of the ‘sons’ in the video are played by actors, except the one with long hair…That’s my real son, Griffin.”

“It’s eerie to see the little boy in the beginning of the video doing his Elvis impersonation because I did the same thing at his age, but it was well before the sequined jump-suit period,” Photoglo recalls. “Like the boy in the video, my only prop was a ukulele because a guitar was too big.” The McCartney bass featured in the video belongs to songwriter Gary Burr, who co-wrote three tracks on Halls of My Heart.

Despite the cameras, Photoglo’s “rock star” athletic moment was missed during filming. “During the basketball scene, the ball goes in without hitting the backboard…a ‘swish’ shot. It is cut to look like my son made the shot. It was actually my shot: a backwards, overhead hook-shot that’s extremely unlikely for someone with my skills (or lack of). But the camera was on the ball and missed my action,” Photoglo laughs.

“Recommended without reservation” (Robert K. Oermann, MusicRow), Halls of My Heart recently dominated the August Folk DJ Radio Playlist at the #3 album, as well as “Try Me Tomorrow” as the #1 song, three tracks in the Top 20 (“Try Me Tomorrow,” “Brothers Medley,” and “Halls of My Heart”) and Photoglo was the #4 most-played artist. After a solo pop career, Photoglo moved to Nashville in 1984 to concentrate full-time on songwriting. Among his cuts are the #1 singles Fishin’ in the Dark by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Hometown Honeymoon by Alabama. In the 90s, Photoglo, Russell Smith (The Amazing Rhythm Aces), Bernie Leadon (The Eagles) and hit-songwriter Vince Melamed formed the cult band Run C&W. Around the same time, he co-founded the band The Vinyl Kings, formerly known as The Fabulous Del-Beatles. Photoglo has released three previous CDs on Grifftone Records: Fly Straight Home, Sparks in the Radio (#30 on the Folk DJ Best Albums of 2005 list), and the #1, GRAMMY-nominated album Is It Me?
