Joe Tripp And The Hops

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman April 21, 2014 10:47 am Tagged With: Alternative, indie, Pop, Rock

Joe Tripp And The Hops Joe Tripp And The Hops deliver an energetic and soulful alt-pop-rock EP with their new record 6 Songs.

Former Texan and now Chicago based Joe Tripp teamed up with band mate TJ Walker (skins, percussion) to craft a classy, in-your-face, pop sensible rock duo that has been receiving comparisons to well known acts such as Weezer, The Gin Blossoms, and Incubus.

I will have to agree with these comparisons. Joe Tripp And The Hops ability to fuse emotional honesty and hard rockin’ grooves with compelling melodies creates a refreshing soundscape I haven’t heard from a pop-rock record in a while.

I have listened through this EP at least 3 times and it hasn’t gotten old yet. Keep your ears on these guys.

“I tend not to get too wrapped up in what a rock star should be or anything,” shares Chicago-based Joe Tripp, front man for Joe Tripp and the Hops. “I’ve been there and done that but I feel like the best work I’ve done has always been heartfelt honest songwriting.”

Grab your copy of 6 songs then connect with the group on FB or Twitter.
