John Oates Creates New Travel/Roots Music TV Program

by Featured Guest June 27, 2015 7:30 am Tagged With: Roots

JOHN OATES NYCNashville, Tenn. June 2, 2015…Legendary musician and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer John Oates has developed a new travel/roots music television program called “Good Road To Follow.” Adapting the title from a recent solo album release, Oates’ concept is to explore America’s back roads in search of unique characters, towns, local food and most importantly, American roots music.

When John Oates first teamed up with Daryl Hall to form the renowned pop music duo Hall & Oates, they traveled from gig to gig along America’s back roads in a 1968 Pontiac GTO, that they bought from John’s father. In his new show, John hits the road once again, only this time, America is coming along for the ride.

“Two things that have really defined my life over the years are the road and roots music,” said Oates. “So this is my chance to combine those two forces into a show that will allow viewers to come along with me on a unique journey.”
John is the guide along these hidden and often forgotten roads, uncovering parts of the country rarely, if ever seen on national television. John will also uncover music never heard outside of the isolated hollows and back roads of America. What we’ve come to identify as American roots music, which has become the basis for nearly every American music genre heard today. At the end of each episode, John will team up with the originators of that music to arrange and then play those songs. The songs will be recorded and available for download at the end of each show. And hey, you never know who may want to come along for the ride.

Oates developed the show in conjunction with producers Vincent DeSalvo and Chris Epting for DCi Communications.
