Kristen Rae Bowden Reveals Video for “Marry Me Once”

by Leslie Sherman May 19, 2023 1:58 pm Tagged With: ballad, indie pop, singer, songwriter, United States

Kristen Rae Bowden, the Charlottesville, Virginia-based artist’s music exhibits a bold vulnerability. She’s a confessional storyteller with a theatrical flair who draws from a wide swath of influences.

She just released the music video for her enchanting folk-infused indie pop piano ballad, “Marry Me Once,” where viewers are transported to a mesmerizing desert landscape of Red Rocks Park in Colorado. Directed by the talented Bryon Swezy of Dragonfruit Video, the video’s desaturated visuals and vintage imagery perfectly complement the introspective nature of Bowden’s heartfelt song.

Clad in a delicate lacy white dress juxtaposed with solid black leather boots, Bowden gracefully dances alone upon the iron-red rocks, embracing a sense of liberation and self-empowered peacefulness. As she sings the poignant lyrics, “you’re not gonna marry me once / just to say it’s forever / that’s not how forever happens to be,” her ethereal presence resonates with viewers, conveying a profound message of authenticity and self-worth.

Interspersed throughout the video are glimpses of hazy and dreamlike scenes, evoking an idyllic wedding day and symbolizing the illusory dreams of a future she once desired but has now relinquished. These evocative visuals beautifully depict the act of letting go and finding solace in the romance of self-love and respect.

“Marry Me Once” is a poetic exploration of the profound realization that true fulfillment originates from within. Kristen Rae Bowden’s delicate yet powerful vocals, combined with the stripped-down simplicity of her piano-driven composition, create an intimate and introspective atmosphere. The video’s evocative portrayal of the expansive desert landscape serves as a metaphorical backdrop for the inner journey of self-discovery and empowerment that the song encapsulates.

Through the marriage of poignant lyrics, serene visuals, and Bowden’s evocative performance, the “Marry Me Once” music video is a captivating piece of artistry that invites viewers to reflect on the transformative power of self-love. It is a reminder that finding true happiness and fulfillment often requires letting go of societal expectations and embracing one’s own path to personal growth and self-empowerment.
