Lollapalooza 2011

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman August 10, 2011 12:15 am Tagged With: Chicago, Illinois, United States

Hip hop & R&B at the 2011 lollapalooza festival in Chicago

Urban Artist Lineup:
Eminem
Nas & Damion Marley
Cee Lo
Tinie tempah
Ryan Leslie

If your asking yourself how many artist performed at this years Lollapalooza music festival ??? The number is too many to count.  But we only had 5 urban acts in the mix with about 50 others. Not to say that I don’t appreciate the foo fighters nor any other performers. Personally I think they all are “The Shit” in their own way. I even purchase some of their music to enjoy when I get tired of rap and R&B. But C’MON SON. Chicago is a hip hop and R&B city. And a hardrock and blues/Jazz town.  There were many performers that they forgot about and ignored.  I hope they don’t make this mistake again.
When planning a music event you must take into consideration your surroundings. I’m sure the lollapalooza event out did the taste of Chicago because of the constant new artists hitting the stage. Eminen & Nas were two great artists to pick, and they are personally in my top 10 rappers list. But going to a festival for just those two was not high on my priority list while I was in Chicago.
