Love and Fairy Tales

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman October 2, 2013 12:57 pm Tagged With: Christian, Pop

Love and Fairy Tales by DeDe DeDe abandoned music for a career in marketing because it made more sense…and probably cents.

DeDe might have let go of the music but it never let go of her. Seven years ago the music decided DeDe had to come back.

She began hearing songs in her head and dreaming about music. When she told her husband, they both agreed it might be time for DeDe to create again.

As a classically trained singer and pianist, a flute player, and a songwriter, you might wonder why she ever stopped making music but none of that matters now. DeDe jumped head first back into her art. She re-learned vocal performance, piano, songwriting, and musical theory.

After regaining her confidence, DeDe was finally prepared to continue her life’s calling.

“I’m not afraid anymore,” says Deborah Wedekind (aka DeDe). “Not afraid to say the things I feel need to be said, and to take a chance with my music. I’ve found my joy, my purpose, and my peace.”

Love & Fairy Tales includes 5 well crafted songs full of inspirational easy listening pop with Christian themes. DeDe’s voice is powerful, moving, and versatile.

In August 2013, she was named finalist in the UK Songwriting Competition for her song “The Plans I Have For You”. She also won Top 5 Best Vocalist for the same song at SingerUniverse.com. She also made it as a semi-finalist in Song of the Year’s 2013 Adult Contemporary category for her song “Blame It On Summertime”.

Both of these gems can be found on Love & Fairy Tales.

DeDe also supports charities for women and children, such as Covenant House, The Door, Humble Area Assistance Ministries, Village Learning Center, World Vision, and the African Children’s Choir with proceeds from her music.

“I want to share what I have been given,” DeDe says. “I’ve made mistakes and it took some time to get where I am. I believe that can happen for everybody. All the truly good things in life, it seems I’ve had to wait for – and I’m glad I did.”
