I guess we should start from the top. Who are you? Where are you from? What style of music do you create?

Josh Johnson (guitarist for Mammothor). We are a band from the Boston area and we take a wide-ranging approach to rock and roll

I get the feeling you aim to take the best elements of rock from the 70s, 80s, and 90s and wrap it into one wall of sound…how much fun are you having with that?

It is a challenge to balance so many varying styles. We all have different influences from different eras and genres and don’t want to limit ourselves to one niche but rather attempt to blend them seamlessly. Otherwise I think we would get bored with our music.

Who or what are your biggest influences? What did you listen to as a kid?

I grew up during the grunge era and bands like Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, STP, and others alike I hold in high regard and never get tired of listening to any of them. At the same time I listened to Led Zeppelin, Hendrix and in my early teens discovered Iron Maiden, thrash metal, and decades worth of blues. I am partial to guitar driven music.

What was the last song you listened to?

In my car “All Hallows Eve” by Type O Negative

How did you guys come together? How did you choose the name Mammothor?

Originally I met Adam and Perry through a mutual friend and we played instrumental rock. I luckily found both Jimmy and Dana Through Craigslist and Jeff was brought in by Adam and Perry, he is one of the only great keyboard players in the area. (maybe the only one)

What is the rock scene like in Boston? I know a lot of great music comes out of the city.

There are a lot of great bands, Das Muerte being my favorite, but the local following is just starting to build back up. There has been too much junk out there both in small markets and in mainstream and I feel like the time is coming for real rock music to come back to the forefront.

When did you all realize music was the path you were going to walk? Was there an “ah-ha” moment?

Probably after the first year of playing guitar my mind was made up. I was about 11

How is the Internet helping (or hurting) your marketing, promoting, connecting with fans efforts?

I just keep on throwing our music out there and we get lucky and meet some people who dig our style and want to help us out with shows, reviews, or sharing our music. Having a music video online has helped and we are filming our next one for the song “The Bird Man” in may.

Is there a tour in the works? Do you play regularly in Boston?

No Tour yet but some out of state trips coming up. Some shows in New York and possibly Philadelphia. In April we are in talks to go down and perform at the Gibson Guitars showroom for nyrocktv.com
