MASSEY Rises with New Single “Comeback Morning”

by Leslie Sherman July 9, 2025 3:41 am Tagged With: 2025, indie rock, new music, Rock, singer, songwriter, United States

Soulful, defiant, and rooted in real feeling, MASSEY’s new single “Comeback Morning” take you up by the collar and dares you to persist and keep going.

Listen in here:

In this track, the groove has a real weight. Charlie Wooton on bass doesn’t just support the song but he anchors it in. Layer in the twin guitars of Peter Oravetz and Daniel Groover, the burning organ from Michael Lemmler and Doug Belote’s unfussy, confident drums and you have a rhythm section that doesn’t just move but convinces you to come on the ride.

But it’s definitely MASSEY’s voice that seals the deal. His vocals are delivered straight and you can hear the man who has lived through the night, through the trials of life.

He repeats the phrase “the comeback is always sweeter,” a line inspired by his father.

The 504 Horns give that added lift, and Shaun Murphy’s backing vocals rise in the mix. Everything about this track is big, bold and reminds you that there is grace in getting back up again, and in facing the day even when you don’t feel ready.

Put it on when you need reminding. When you’re in the thick of it and when the morning feels like a fight.

About MASSEY

Conceived in a moment of creative inspiration by producer JoeBaby Michaels, MASSEY arrived fully formed with voice, vision and a swagger to spare.

At the center is a frontman who doesn’t play traditional instruments but builds entire songs vocally, channeling James Brown energy to whistle basslines and scat melodies. It’s collaboration at its most instinctive and alive.

With roots in New Orleans soul and funk, and layered with rock grit and retro R&B charm, MASSEY’s music is bold and unapologetically groove driven. And with just a few singles released, MASSEY has already made noise with over 100,000 views across his first two video drops and turning heads with his sultry style.

MASSEY’s mission runs deeper. He wants to connect, upfit and channel emotion into songs that speak to personal transformation and a collective spirit. With his debut album Reason for Being dropping this summer, MASSEY is ready to make his mark.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
