Moss: How long have you been involved in the Music scene?

Mic Wise: I’ve been a part of the Music City’s music scene since tha late 80’s

Moss: When did you begin the radio gig wit Beatknockin ?

Mic Wise: March 2011

Moss: Name your top 5 dead or alive favorite artists.

Mic Wise:

  • Rakim
  • Phil Collins
  • Michael Jackson
  • 2Pac
  • James Taylor

Moss: Name your top 5 current Hip Hop Artists.

Mic Wise: (not necessarily in this exact order)

  • Busta Rhymes
  • Jada Kiss
  • Twista
  • Ludacris
  • Eminem

Moss: Who are the local artists you see going somewhere ?

Mic Wise: For me to name the indie artists in Nashville that i see going somewhere would require a list. A easier way to tell everybody who they are…tune in to Beat Knockin Radio Mon-Fri 12-4p (cst)

Moss: Any suggestions on how a newcomer should get their music placed on radio, clubs etc?

Mic Wise:

  • 1st of all the music has to be worhty of spins meaning quality of lyrics & sound has to be acceptable before any true musician/music lover will give your music any air time.
  • 2nd get ya songs in the hands of the Dj’s they have the power to break your record to the general public. Dj’s cover alot of ground locally, as well as regionally…from clubs, parties & mixtapes. A must to build relationships.
  • 3rd promote….promote….PROMOTE. Get out in the city….stay in their faces!!! College campuses R an ideal place to start…highly populated with open minded & influencial ppl. If u create a buzz…they’ll request it on campus thus creating a DEMAND for your music.

Moss: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

Mic Wise: In the next 5yrs I see myself being responsible for some of the most trendy art, hottest fashion, film & music
