Mid Tenn Listens – this week’s jedi picks

Brilliant Indie Music From Brilliant Folks

Cincinnati quartet The Tigerlilies premiered their lead-off single “Easy As It Seems” via Ghettoblaster Magazine who noted “The style set forth by the Buzzcocks, Cheap Trick and The Ramones is alive and well in the hands of The Tigerlilies” — the Jedi says this is a good one to start a rockin’ Monday morning with.

I keep getting songs from The Grand Undoing sent to me by all kinds of good friends. I’m digging on every one of ’em! These guys have a bit of an Elvis Costello thing going with a modern take on classic sounds that slams.

Let’s add a bit of a throwback to the sounds that filled the air in 1979 with something that reminds me of B.O.C. or Steve Miller – Downtown Mystic have got it Down! You probably want to follow off this playlist on over to stream the full record, this thing is great!

A little different from most of the Jedi Picks, are diNMachine – off the wall neo-electro-avant-guard geniuses that have a great record out. Check out the cut eW.A.F.T. based on a sampled and destroyed Earth Wind and Fire bit!

Acrylic is an alternative indie-rock quintet originally from Scotland’s capital. Now residing in Glasgow’s west-end, the five university and art school students combine atmospheric, intricate sounds with explosive, psychedelic rock. They have been played on XFM Scotland, Amazing Radio, and BBC Scotland
