Portland Maine’s alt emo Moments Of sound like they have something important to say with this new single release. From the first jagged guitar strum, “Threshold” sinks its teeth in and doesn’t let go.

Built on aching harmonies and a lattice of intricate, interlocking guitar lines, “Threshold” captures the suspended, gut twisting moment when a toxic relationship stops feeling safe and starts to become ever more suffocating.
Co‑vocalist Benjamin Wilson delivers the verses with a raw and almost trembling weariness. This is the sound of someone halfway out the door but still gripping the frame.
His voice pairs beautifully with Jackson Howard’s textured guitar work and Adam Howarth’s inventive leads, creating a push and pull between melancholy and momentum.
The rhythm section, with Dan Dunham’s unpredictable, thunderous drumming and Kyle Gravel’s smooth yet punchy bass tone, giving the song its heartbeat. It’s a heartbeat that quickens in the choruses, where the tension bursts wide open into soaring refrains. It’s these moments that don’t just feel big and expansive, but also necessary as if the song has been holding its breath and finally lets go and exhales.
Producer Adam Cichocki (Timber Studios) captures this dynamic perfectly, resisting the temptation to over‑polish. Instead he allows the emotional cracks to show.
Overall, this is a track that taps into the true spirit of classic emo while pushing further towards something much sharper and more modern.
If “Threshold” is the doorway, Moments Of are kicking the door wide open. For fans of Movements, Citizen, and Taking Back Sunday, this is a track worth turning up loud!
