Bio

Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, Illinois, Moss Da Beast let his presence be known  after doctors told his mother countless times that she could not conceive a child. Little did he know what life had in store for him. He became an athlete throughout his college years, traveling the world playing baseball for  Valparaiso University located in Valparaiso, Indiana, where he majored in marketing. He then attended Columbia College back in Chicago and majored in music business with a concentration in arts entertainment and media management. Heavily influenced by his peers and admiring rap artists like Snoop Dogg, 2pac, Scarface and Nas, Moss began making his music his career path.

Moss did not start out as a solo artist when his first album hit the streets. Heavily involved with “The Hit Squad” as a member and manager, he and his 4 cousins hit  the streets hard. The group first coming together in 2003 came out with 2 albums; in 2004 they released the “Hit List” and sold 1000 copies of the in just five days. They did not come out with another album until 2008 but within the frame of time the “Hitsquad” had over 75 shows that they performed through 2009. As a group at that time they decided that they wanted to start the label Barnone ENT.

Currently Moss is embarking in his solo career with a strong 8 year background in management and as an independent artist himself. In August of 2010 Moss release his first solo project with the mixtape perfectly titled “Almost There” and received great feedback from his fan base with hit songs “They Know Its Me” featuring R&B artist Andena who is managed by Moss and “When It Get Gutta”, which was nominated for the hottest single in the 2010 Hip-Hop In the Ville Awards. The Hitsquad was also nominated for best group for that award show as well.  Moss has definitely been making a name for himself and being recognized for his  accomplishments. He was awarded “Artist of the Week” 2 weeks in a row by a popular blog site called Certified Muzik Radio. His single “I Got It” is being used in an up and coming movie called “King of the Ville” due out July 22, 2011. He has done a large number of features with other independent artist and is spending plenty of time in the studio for the release of his highly anticipated album “Dyin to Live” set for release in the later part of this year. Moss continues to be a positive impact in his community with his providing of the monthly event, “Industry Night” which is a step up from the networking event he was doing just last year called “Independents Night” . He gives artist the opportunity to truly network, what he believes is one of the most essential elements to being an artist. Moss was once told “I didn’t sell a million records until I met a million people”.
