Musicians Gavin and Joey DeGraw Bring Their Popular NYC Club to Nashville

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman October 11, 2011 3:37 pm Tagged With: Nashville, United States

The National Underground Grand Opening 10/15 on Lower Broadway

Nashville’s newest music venue and restaurant, The National Underground, will have its official grand opening on Saturday, October 15, 2011.

The first off-shoot of the popular New York City club owned by artists and brothers Gavin and Joey DeGraw, The National Underground Nashville, will combine the best in local and national original roots rock and country music along with a full menu—including a burger that was named one of the best in New York City.

Located on Lower Broadway, across from the Hard Rock Café, the club will feature both upcoming acts as well as established artists. The Grand Opening celebration will include performances by Joey DeGraw, Hilary Williams, The Cold Stares, and the Eric Jon Band.

Says Joey, “The idea for The National Underground was birthed on the road. I always dreamed of a live music touring circuit that catered to more of the indie market where the draw would be less than 200 people.  We’re excited to be here in Nashville opening our second location, not only because we live here now, but also because it’s the ideal environment for this kind of venue.”

Featuring a top-of-the-line sound system, the brothers hope that the club will become a favorite hang of musicians in town.  “We feature live music seven nights a week and are trying to stick to an indie, Tom Petty style rock and roll, while having a soft spot for traditional country,” Adds Gavin.

The National Underground welcomes fans of all ages until 9 p.m. and is a non-smoking restaurant and club.  Food is served 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Monday – Thursday and Sundays, and 11 a.m. to 5 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays (the bar stops serving alcohol at 3:00 a.m., but the club is open until 5 a.m. for food.)  The National Underground Nashville is located at 105 Broadway between the former Acme Farm Supply store and Big River Grille.

About Gavin DeGraw
Beloved by fans for his blue-eyed soul vocals, singer, songwriter, and RCA recording artist Gavin DeGraw has enjoyed success since breaking through in 2003 with his debut album, Chariot, which sold over a million copies.  He followed that up with his self-titled second album, which debuted at No. 1 on the digital sales chart and at No. 7 on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart in 2008 (earning Gavin his first Top 10 album and spawning the hit singles “In Love With A Girl” and the gold-certified “We Belong Together.”  Gavin just released his new album Sweeter and is currently on tour.

About Joey DeGraw
Joey DeGraw is a widely known independent recording artist, songwriter, voice-over actor, and entrepreneur. Originally from South Fallsburg NY, Joey started playing guitar at the age of five. Inspired by the sounds of Chris Whitley, Queen, Tom Petty, and the Beatles, he continued his passion for music throughout his school years writing and performing. When local musicians began to cover Joey’s songs, people started to take notice of his natural raw talent. Chris Whitley noted, “What makes Joey such a deep writer and overwhelming talent, besides his god given gifts, is that … it is all about music as an art form. He is a purist and the only young blood in music today that gives me hope.” Joey has packed the house at clubs across the country and around the world.  Joey is touring Europe this fall and has an EP entitled The Business of Love coming out in the spring.
