Norine Braun-Through Train Windows

Norine Braun is returning with a new album on December 7th! The title is Through Train Windows and I was fortunate enough to receive an advance listen!

Be sure to check out our previous article featuring Norine, find it here.

For her forthcoming project, Norine drew inspiration from her travels across the upper regions of North America during the Canada Riding The Rails tour. Journeying 6,000+ kilometers from Vancouver to Toronto and a myriad of places in between, Norine captures the essence of Canada and it’s everyday people with Through Train Windows.

Finding herself with no WiFi, she had an abundance of time to think. Whether wondering about nature or the intricacies of everyday life, Norine also uses the eclectic array of people she met and spent time with as further inspiration for this new collection of songs.

To bring the theme of nature and Canada full circle, Norine wrote the songs for Through Train Windows with an amazing view of Sleeping Buffalo Mountain as her backdrop.

Packed with 13 tracks of alternative rock sounds with very organic vibes, Through Train Windows takes us on the cross-Canada journey that provided the inspiration for it’s music and lyrics. Labeling Norine’s music Canadiana is a very appropriate description.

This is another one of those albums that is best enjoyed from beginning to end. From the start of her tour until the train hit the brakes back home, each song takes us further across the Canadian landscape. We learn about its beauty, its vast wilderness, and its beautiful people while jamming along to the homegrown sounds of one of Canada’s own creatives.

Norine Braun is emotional. She creates from the heart. And her style is eclectic.

Not pigeonholing herself to any single style, Through Train Windows will treat you to an alternative-folk-rockin’, Canadiana experience featuring somewhat unpredictable instrumenation. For example, when the saxophone kicked in during Climbing Table Mountain my mind was not expecting the surprise but warmly welcomed the soulfulness which it poured onto the song. These little surprises can be found throughout the record.

Through Train Windows will be available on December 7th! You can preview Sleeping Buffalo below (a song from the album). Pre-save the album on Spotify.

While you’re waiting for the new album, check out our review of Norine’s last album.
