Omega Swan Interview

In this interview feature, we chat with Nashville’s Omega Swan about their newest project, the digital music world, influences and more.

Full Q&A along with links and streams below.

Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)

We are all transplants located in Nashville, TN and would consider our “style” of music as Rock n’ Roll with a modern twist…Our sound has developed and has been refined over the past 2 years since Aaron Westine (drummer, Malibu, CA) joined the band. His addition added a very powerful and dynamic element to what we do. We’re constantly looking for the threshold of Pop and Rock in the style of the Killers, Billy Idol, Elton John, David Bowie, etc. We’d love to bring big riffs back to the radio 🙂

What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to stay the course?

To put it simply, the love of music. One’s relationship with art is hard to explain. All I know is we love writing and recording and don’t plan on stopping…ever. Music will be a part of our lives forever.

How is your new release different than previous ones? Did you set out to accomplish anything specific?

The new music we’re gearing up to release is a much more realized vision. We’ve spent a lot of time in the shed and at the studio working on the songwriting, sonic landscape, lyrical themes, and production styles used to represent Omega Swan. We’re really happy with how it’s coming together, and feel like we’re falling into a serious groove. We’ve been digging for oil, and it feels like it’s starting to bubble up right beneath us.

Do you face any challenges as an indie musician in a digital age? On the flip side, how has technology helped you (if it has)?

I think it’s just as hard now as it’s ever been. All I know is “Don’t Stop Believing” is undeniable. “Thriller” is undeniable. “September” is undeniable. No matter what technology you have, an undeniably great recording won’t go unnoticed.

That being said, technology definitely assists in the creative process. We have multiple studios across Nashville that we work in, which is possible because of technology. The tools are out there to create anything you can imagine, any sound is at your fingertips, so there’s really no excuse these days. Either you’re working hard or your not.

Where can we follow you online and hear more music?

Follow us on Spotify! We’ll be releasing a bunch of new music over the next few months, and that’s the best place to find it.

Anything else before we sign off?

We’d love to hear from your readers if they dig the new tunes. Y’all can reach us directly anytime on Facebook (Omega Swan) or omegaswanmusic@gmail.com. Cheers!
