Patrick Ames Puts Four Faces On Display With Newest Album

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman April 24, 2017 10:26 am Tagged With: gospel, Rock, singer, songwriter

Patrick-Ames-Four-Faces

Singer and songwriter Patrick Ames has delivered his newest EP Four Faces which includes four very different but very engaging songs ranging from rockhouse gospel to downtempo to quirky to upbeat.

Four Faces is inspired by the featured artwork courtesy of Patrick’s brother Opa. Like the art, the four songs included on this EP are as similar as they are different. Another unique feature of this album is the fact Patrick performed the tracks using a MIDI guitar synthesizer playing piano and soprano saxophone parts with his Gibson Hummingbird.

-Patrick goes into more depth about the album and his creative process in our recent interview. Find that here.

Reawakened is a rockhouse gospel jam with infectious vocal work, a head-nodding rhythm section, and an infusion of funkiness which guarantees this song will have you moving and grooving in no time.

The Lonely Lie So Easily is a downtempo, smooth flowing single that would go well as the soundtrack to a walk through a foggy night. This track includes a MIDI trio of piano, bass and saxophone which blend really well with the minimalist drums and haunting background vocals that further enhance the mood of the song.

The Meaning of Life is a quirky, slightly off-beat tune featuring some really cool Haiku-esque lyrical stylings as Patrick contemplates and explores the meaning of life through sound.

This Small Town is an upbeat track perfect for taking a stroll down the street on a refreshing, bright, sunny day. The melodies will stick with you long after the song is over and the rhythms will have you bouncing around and nodding your head for the entire 3:31 sonic journey.

Patrick Ames is in a lane all his own. Adapting and using the MIDI guitar synth allows Ames to add a very unique style and flair as he plays non-guitar instruments with his sweet sounding Gibson Hummingbird. With a strong crew of background vocalists thrown into the mix, Four Faces is a refreshing, unique and must-add album to your indie music collection.

You can grab the EP from iTunes (for $4).

You can stream the EP and connect with Patrick Ames on Soundcloud. There is a video about the making of the album on YouTube.
