Interview with Prinz Grizzley – Austrian Mountain Music

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman July 31, 2016 3:20 pm Tagged With: Austria, Country, Europe, Folk, Rock

Prinz Grizzley

In this interview, we chat with Austrian musician and songwriter Prinz Grizzley who recently began pushing himself as a solo artist after a decade plus with his indie rock band.

Full Q&A plus some song streams are available below.

We’ve featured you before but let’s dive a little deeper into the artist and the music. What attracted you to this genre or style of music?

I just love the sound of a pedal steel mixed with a vocal melody and great tales about life.

How long have you been creating and sharing your music with the public?

Prinz Grizzley is kinda new I started my solo career a year ago, before that I was hitting the road with my Indierock Band for more than 10 years.

Who or what influences your playing and/or writing? Also, what motivates you to keep going?

A big part of what influences me is what´s happening around me, I am kind of a sponge. I just cant breath without music.

Were you trying to accomplish anything specific on this new project? Creatively or otherwise?

No I am just doing what I always did, write some songs and try to record it.

What was the last song you listened to?

Daniel Romano / Dead Medium

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?

I prefer Vinyl because you can look, touch and smell while listening to the music.

How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?

Definitely Bandcamp, as an artist you are getting a fair share of what you are selling!

Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what are one or two of the biggest challenges you face when trying to attract listeners to your music?

It´s the attention deficit, there are only a few people around who are really digging for music, taking their time to discover an Artist.

It´s like you put a song out and in 5 minutes you should have the whole album online, otherwise their minds thinking about the next click and then you are yesterdays news.

Do you gig, tour or perform? Do you ever live stream? Where can music lovers see you perform?

I mostly do gigs where I like to perform / Never had / Around Austria, Switzerland and Germany. No US-Dates so far, unfortunately.

Where is the best place to connect with you online? Discover more of your music?

On Facebook / Homepage / Youtube

Any last thoughts? Shout outs? Words of wisdom?

Its great that your blog is interested in what a guy from the Austrian Mountains is thinking and doing, never imagined that this will happen, welcome to the age of the world wide web.

Keep your hands off warm beer!
