Ray Ray Star Reignites the Flame of Rock and Real Emotion in New Single “Feelin'”

by Leslie Sherman October 27, 2025 2:50 am Tagged With: indie rock, Rock, singer, songwriter, United States

Every once in a while, a rock song comes along that feels like a pulse. Ray Ray Star’s new single “Feelin'” is one of those songs.

It is an unfiltered outpouring of pain, survival and rebirth. A track that takes you straight into the struggle of addiction and the hard but beautiful process of learning to feel again after years of being numb.

“Feelin’” doesn’t hold back. The guitars ground the track in an authenticity with their heavy melodies. Ray Ray wrote all of the music and lyrics himself and played every guitar part on the recording, shaping a sound that is both classic and modern, echoing the defiant spirit of 90’s alternative rock with the vulnerability of a songwriter who has lived every word he has written.

Vocals on this track come from Nick Weber of Pigeon Park, a powerhouse frontman whose voice brings the emotional weight of the song to life. The rhythm section drives this energy home – Ricardo Viana of The Veer Union (Rockstar Records / Universal) on drums has precision and power, while Ryan Jones of The Thick Of It brings a deep, gritty groove on bass. Together they create a sound landscape that is pulsing alive.

But at the heart of “Feelin’” is Ray Ray Star himself. The writer, the guitarist, the creative force behind the music.

A seasoned record producer, executive producer and performer, Ray Ray has built a multifaceted career that spans international touring, television production as well as years behind the scenes shaping other artists’s sound. He co-produced NBC’s Real Music Live, an ambitious live performance show that spotlighted authentic musicianship in an era of digital perfection.

But “Feelin'” is far from being a polished industry product. It is something real and it comes from a man who is sixteen years clean and sober, who has walked through the fire and come out the other side with a guitar in his hands and a story to tell.

“It’s about reconnecting with real emotion,” Ray Ray explains, “that moment when the light finally breaks through the darkness.”

Ray Ray’s guitar work is impressive and his lyrics cut straight to the truth, and his production has the grit and warmth of lived in sound.

Ray Ray states:

“My single Feelin’ is about the very last time I used and the thoughts that were going through my mind at that time. There was so much trauma and I was doing everything in my power to not feel anything but along the way I lost the ability to feel anything. I was desperate for a feeling of any sort. Addiction took everything from me and turned me into a shadow of my formal self.

Desperate to quit and an addiction that wouldn’t let me. The absolute insanity of it all. Bringing me to places I never thought I would ever go. Hanging with people I hated being around. Doing things I never thought I would. Overdoses, heart failure, etc. I wanted to escape life with drugs but then drugs wouldn’t let me go.

Its a miracle I am still here to tell the story and that is why I volunteer work with people that want the help. I want to inspire others that not only is there a way out but, when clean, you can achieve anything! That is my motivation. To sore as high as I can and inspire others to do the same. We are all someone’s brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, etc.”

In a landscape so often obsessed with optics, “Feelin'” stands out for its authenticity and shows that music can still be personal and powerful.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
