Reviving Nostalgia: Siren’s “Small Town” Takes You Back to Carefree Days.

by Leslie Sherman February 23, 2024 6:12 am Tagged With: 2024, indie rock, Rock, singer, songwriter, United States

Siren, the well known South Florida band, recently released their latest single, “Small Town.”

This single, which is infused with melodic rock and blues influences that define the band’s sound, is a nostalgic homage back to the simplicity and warmth of hometown memories.

Led by the talented vocalist and songwriter Rob Phillips, Siren’s “Small Town” transports listeners to the carefree days of youth, evoking a sense of familiarity and nostalgia. Phillips draws inspiration from his own upbringing in Brandon, Florida, crafting poignant lyrics that resonate with anyone who cherishes the memories of growing up in a small town.

“I was just tooling around on my acoustic and started reflecting about growing up in my home town of Brandon Florida”, said Phillips.   It was a very simple carefree time where it felt safe and everyone knew each other.   My friends and I cherished exploring the town on our bikes, hanging out at the lake, and discovering new secret places.  It’s a song that’s very relatable, and therefore wanted to blend a little bit of all genres for the instrumentation”.

“Small Town” was recorded at Madison Studios with dummer and engineer Mike Cupino contributing his expertise. Accompanying the single is a captivating music video which is directed by Isaac Dietz, and showcases scenic locations in both Georgia and Florida bringing to life the timeless allure of small-town living.

Since their inception in the 1980s, Siren have continually pushed the boundaries, cultivating a dedicated fanbase along the way. Their previous album “Beyond The Rainbow” received wide acclaim for its fusion of classic progressive hard rock together with elements of metal and blues.

Building on the success of “Beyond The Rainbow,” Siren then embarked on crafting new songs for their forthcoming album. Rob and Mike embarked on a mission to discover a middle America roots rock sound and, as they crafted new songs, their focus then shifted towards capturing the essence of everyday experiences, spanning from the innocence of youth to complexities of adulthood.

Setting their sights on Atlanta’s Madison Studios, Siren then commenced recording sessions to breathe new life into their latest compositions. Among these tracks, “February Son” emerged as their debut single from the album.

Phillips revealed:

“I penned “February Son” as a reflection of the escalating Fentanyl crisis, drawing strength from the deeply personal loss of Reese Puckett,  beloved family member who tragically succumbed to the drug at the tender age of twenty.”

“Small Town” is the title track of the upcoming album, and offers an exciting glimpse into the band’s evolution towards their middle America roots-rock direction.

Scheduled for release in the summer of 2024, Siren’s upcoming album will be distributed through The Orchard / SONY via Madison Records.
