Room1Fourteen is a rock band based in England and Switzerland, formed in 2015 by singer/songwriter William Mayos. After years of writing songs, he sought the help of session musicians Rob Green and David Dasenbrook to fulfil his artistic vision. Musical influences include The Smiths, Blur, BRMC, Coldplay, Lou Reed, Pink Floyd and many more.

2015 welcomed the release of their first EP, “Living in Dreams” which led to some positive reviews and airplay in Europe and the US.

In this interview, we chat with Room 1 Fourteen about the new project, music, influences, and more.

Q&A along with links and a stream of So Cold available below.

Let’s dive a little deeper into You, the artist and your music. What attracted you to this genre(s) or style(s)?

We like rock music because it’s got a raw sound. It’s not perfect sounding and it seems more real to us.

What led you into this journey with music? And further, what drives you to push it out to the public?

There is an element of searching for something, or getting lost in a moment. The songs can be a diary of your life.

The drive is to enjoy the music we make and if others like it, that’s great.

Who or what influences your creativity? Have your tastes in music changed over time?

Yes, BIG TIME… They change every day.

I like to listen to people and hear their stories, you never know when the perfect idea will come.

Were you trying to accomplish anything specific on this new project? Creatively or otherwise?

No, it’s the album we wanted to hear. As long as we like it, that’s the main thing.

What was the last song you listened to?

David Bowie – Suffragette City

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?

All three have their benefits. It’s nice to hold the record though, so CD or vinyl.

How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?

Bandcamp, because the artist has more options and control.

Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what is the biggest challenge you face when trying to connect with or find new fans?

The machine is out of control atm. The underground scene is more our thing.

Where is the best place to connect with you online? Discover more music?

Anything else you’d like to add before signing off?

Give our new album “CONTROL” a listen. You might like it… The album came out September 5th.

Here is the first single “So Cold”.
