Sometimes a track comes along so catchy that it would be criminal if it were a one-hit wonder, and ‘Bom Bom’ by Sam and the Womp was just such a track. Released at the end of summer in 2012, it exploded into the public consciousness as a love/hate track that divided dancefloors all over the UK.

Drawing on influences as diverse as brass bands and Balkan music, Bom Bom also had an aesthetically extravagant music video to match. An enthusiastic mixed-sex band with a penchant for wild dance moves completed the perfect storm which ensured Bom Bom was the sound of the summer.

And now, that sound is back! Following the departure of founding member Aaron Horn in 2014, trumpeter Sam Ritchie and singer songwriter Bloem de Wilde have returned with their brand new single, Posh Ragga.

It’s the first track from an album titled Bee Sides, comprised of B-sides which might not otherwise have ever seen the light of day. The band said: “The Bee Sides EP is a collection of previously unreleased songs that we think compliment each other, characteristically rich with fat brass and heavy bass, with a Balkan-Dub flavour, showing off our musicianship and experimental side. With the digital age B Sides have become a dated idea, but with this EP we are bringing back the concept and opening up a debate!”

Like Bom Bom the track features a characteristically bright, bold and beautiful music video of animated bees, that’s sure to tickle the fancy of anyone who enjoyed Bom Bom.

If you’re looking for a fun and funky band that’s full of life to play at your next event, Sam and the Womp could be just who you’re looking for. Contact music agent MN2S to find out more about booking Sam and the Womp.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
