Sam Fishman Delivers Progressive Rock Novel with End of Time, Music and Storytelling At Its Finest

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman August 27, 2018 9:45 pm Tagged With: alternative rock, hard rock, Metal, New Jersey, progressive rock, United States

Natural Drummer-End of Time

The alias Natural Drummer is more than just a cool sounding name. Sam Fishman really is a natural drummer.

Sam has known this fact since he was in high school. Back in 2004, he was chosen to lead a five-piece percussion ensemble on a tour around Europe when he joined the American Music Abroad program. Two years later, he went on to pursue his passion for music at the University of Rochester which led him to become involved in noteworthy music projects with the River Campus as well as the Eastman Conservatory Ensemble.

During this time, he also served as principal drummer for the University’s Jazz Ensemble. Sam can roll out rhythms for any style of music from reggae to jazz to rock to Hip Hop and anything that falls on the spectrum in between each extreme. He has also produced projects in all these styles.

In 2010 he joined the Scott Decarlo Band, recorded in Nashville, formed his own band a year later called Madison rising, and went on to tour the U.S., Japan and South Korea. He has shared stages with Chris Cornell, Weezer, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Godsmack and Aerosmith.

Impressed yet?

Sam’s newest project, End of Time, meddles in the styles of metal, hard rock, progressive and alternative rock. Complete with narration, End of Time is just as much an audio novel as it is an engaging wall of sound. Featuring chunky guitars, soaring solos, intense drums and passionate vocal performances by both male and female, End of Time is a hard rockin’, well crafted, nuanced arrangement of top-shelf musicianship and experienced song design.

I think Sam said it best,

I’ve felt disappointed with the output of modern rock. I believe that you can be accessible and still maintain a level of experimentation. Let’s not be afraid to challenge listeners and take them on a ride! Let’s throw some twists and turns into rock and roll.”

Sam has taken things into his own hands and given modern rock exactly what it needs.

The following talents were involved in this magnificent project:

  • Debbie Grattan: Narrator
  • Jeremy Fishman: Writer
  • Samantha Cram: Vocals
  • Ryan Acquaotta: Vocals
  • Kurt Wubbenhorst: Guitar and Bass
  • Alex Goldenthal: Lead Guitar
  • Sam Fishman: Drums and Synths
  • Christine Nevill: Aux Vocals
  • BCA Chamber Choir: Aux Vocals
  • Alicia Svigals: Violin
  • Brandon Campbell: Orchestral Programming
  • Shane Stanton: Mixing and Recording
  • Andy Vandette: Mastering
