A Selection of Musical Tales by Niq Reefman, You’re Going To Love This!

Niq Reefman

I never know what to expect when listening to a song or album for the first time.

Sure, I can read bios, look at links, see accolades and gig schedules… but you just never really know until you click play.

Niq Reefman’s A Selection of Musical Tales is one I could have never seen coming nor predicted would ever come.

I’m talking about jazz chord driven folk songs.

I’m talking about a trumpeter that’s going to make you think about Miles Davis or Chris Botti.

Cabaret style with comedy club aesthetic.

The reggae and funk infused jazzy folk tales of Australian singer/songwriter Niq Reefman are above and beyond anything you have heard before. Will you ever hear anything like it in the future? I don’t think so.

Niq is in a lane all his own; unique experiences and influences culminate into one of the most refreshing styles of out-of-the-box but very infectious music I have yet to discover.

It’s like Cat Stevens and Tim Minchin decided to form a group with Weird Al Yankovic who had somehow captured the essence of Miles Davis and Nat King Cole in a jar for all of them to share before each studio session.

You might consider Niq the Voltron of the jazz/folk/singer-songwriter genre.

Does any of this make sense? Probably not…which is why it works so well!!

A Selection of Musical Tales is one of the more exciting and intriguing records to find my ears in 2017. And I’m so glad we found each other.

Go support Niq Reefman by grabbing the album from Bandcamp.

You can connect directly on Niq’s official website or on FB or IG.
