Though initially unsure of the result, the band’s bassist/vocalist, Hannah Kruse, stepped in to reimagine the story – keeping Mac’s structure, chords, and riffs largely intact while reshaping the song through a more emotionally grounded lens. The use of a first name not only stuck, but unlocked something powerful: a way to tell someone else’s story that felt unmistakably personal.
