Social Media Tips For Musicians

by Featured Guest April 11, 2018 7:43 am

If you are a musician seeking to improve your social media presence, the following tips may help you make the most out of your efforts.

  1. Make sure your posts have a well-defined theme

By using themes, you can help your fans discover your content much easier. Whenever you post on your band’s social media channels, use some popular hashtags such as #MotivationMonday, #MusicMonday, #ThrowbackThursday, and #SundayFunday.

Try out different themes, and track your stats, in order to see what works and what doesn’t. Next, do more of the stuff that works, so that you can attract now followers and keep the existing ones happy.

  1. Use an educational approach to posting on social media

You need to give your fans and followers tips and advice they can use or the actively seek for. If your posts are thought-provoking, relevant and helpful, your audience is going to grow like a charm.

If, for instance, your brand image involves that you are a friend of the LGBT movement, you may want to keep your followers posted on the progress and the updates of this community.

  1. Use throwback posts to enable people to know you better

Write content that allows your audience to know who you are and where you come from. Share things from your past, let everyone know what kind of personality you have, what are your values and your mission in life. You may also post photos from your travels, in order to bond with those fans that are also big travel lovers. They will love to see you in Rome or in any other place for that matter.

The main idea is to give these people a chance to connect with you on a personal level. As a musician, this can be a great way to gain true fans for life.

  1. Making off posts

People love to see how films and video clips are made. Share your best off-stage moments with them, and they are going to love you even more. You can make use of Instagram Stories or Snapchat to let these people take a glimpse into your behind-the-scenes life. Adiitionally use SoundCloud to market and promote your band.

  1. Keep your videos short and sweet

Facebook users are great video lovers. You can use this to your advantage by creating and uploading short videos to your brand’s Facebook page. This is a good way to have your best posts turn viral.

You should keep your videos short, but you’d better make sure they are interesting. You can use such videos to announce your next tours, albums, or live-stream events. Your fans will love it.

  1. Inspire and motivate your followers

Inspirational and motivational quotes work, regardless your industry or niche. People love these quotes, they enjoy sharing them, so you should definitely make use of this passion to keep them close.

  1. Interactive posts

Interactivity is a sign that you care about your followers. Start two-way conversations with your fans to make them feel they are part of your community. Use polls, contests, and “caption this” posts.

  1. Funny posts

A little humor can take you a long way. You want your fans to associate your band with positive feelings, so give them some good reasons to do so. Share your gunny band photos and videos. If you don’t have any, consider creating some.

Beware, though, at the volume of funny posts you use. You wouldn’t want to turn yourself into a hilarious character people make fun of. They need to laugh with you, not at you. If needed, you can consider hiring a graphic designer to help you create memorable and funny posts that don’t cross this line. Anyway, if you mix all the above, you have great chances to build a solid following in the online environment. People who are present on social media are social. They love to share beautiful and interesting things with their peers. If you can provide them with such things, you’ll win the game.
