Solo Sessions with Nikhil Korula Band

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman September 13, 2013 1:34 pm Tagged With: R&B, Reggae

Solo Sessions by Nikhil Korula Nikhil Korula began his music career at the very tender age of 5.

As a child prodigy with classical training, Korula shared stages with vocalists of the highest caliber including Barry Manilow and Luther Vandross.

With his band of top notch musicians, The Nikhil Korula Band has accomplished quite a bit over the years… All without label backing or a booking agent.

They have shared stages with John Mayer, Ben Harper, Dave Matthews Band, Erykah Badu, The Roots, and Gavin DeGraw (to name a few). They have also sold out venues such as the House of Blues, Apollo Theater, and The Roxy.

Their unique blend of calypso, rock, and reggae backed by African and Latin grooves form a tasty treat that members of the jam band community will truly appreciate and fans of college radio will love.

On Solo Sessions, Nikhil crafts his songs with a bit more introspection and vulnerability while stepping up to handle all guitar duties.

Opening with Spark and closing with Fade Away, Solo Sessions comes full circle for Korula.

“It’s come full circle for me,” Korula says. “I used to see DMB play stadiums, then the NK Band played shows with them, and now I’ve had the opportunity to record with them. It blows my mind this happened. Through all this hard work we got this validation. I listen to the EP from time to time just to make sure it all wasn’t a dream!”

I highly recommend grabbing this album. Then connect with the NK Band on Facebook or Twitter and show them your support!
