Some Greener Yard by Leslie DiNicola

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman April 21, 2014 11:36 am Tagged With: Country, Folk, Pop, Rock

Some Greener Yard by Leslie DiNicola Listening to songs by Leslie DiNicola is like flipping through the scrapbook of a poet.

Each song a photo. A reflection of a moment in time. The sonic imprint left behind by the experiences of yesterday.

“When I look back at the work I’ve done, it’s like going through scrapbooks,” Leslie says thoughtfully. “Each song is like a photograph of the person I was in a particular moment. It tells a story that my soul needed to tell. I hope these songs comfort people and give them an inherent sense of hope against life’s sorrow because that’s why I write the songs I write.”

Leslie’s newest 5 song EP, Some Greener Yard, is an elegantly hopeful collection of tunes.

Having worked with respected music business pros such as Ron Allaire (Madonna, David Bowie), Julian Coryell (Jewel, Alanis Morisette), Erich Gobel (John Mayer, Ray Charles), Mark Schulman (P!nk, Cher, Foreigner), and Ellis Traver (Diane Birch, Sean Lennon), there are no words I can say to further express the high quality of this record.

Some Greener Yard is DiNicola’s 2nd project with Julian Coryell.

“Julian doesn’t allow anything between me and the song except the truth,” she explains.

Some Greener Yard has its heavy moments but Leslie excels at maintaining an uplifting spirit through the thick and thin. With the voice of an angel, it’s hard not to turn this up and vibe out.

Leslie is a master of her craft and this EP is further proof of that statement.
