Soul Sanctuary Provide The Soundtrack To An Afterlife

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman February 11, 2013 1:38 pm Tagged With: hard rock, Metal, United Kingdom

Afterlife by Soul Sanctuary

Escaping permanent incarceration, Luke Gibson headed out with his old guitar and the clothes on his back on a mission to find a better way of life.

After traveling the world, Mr. Gibson headed back home in 2006 with polished skills in the areas of music, songwriting, and performance.

As if they had been waiting on Luke to return, Soul Sanctuary (Paul Gooding and Anthony Montague) had been searching for the perfect front man. They ran into Luke Gibson, heard some self-produced recordings, and knew they had found their man.

Soul Sanctuary spent the next two years reinventing itself and now they are back with Afterlife.

Before you push play I would like to share a preparation list you are going to need:

  • tune-up your air guitar
  • turn your speakers up to 13
  • prepare to rock

This album rocks hard! The mixture of heavy metal and hard rock combine to create a wall of sound that will move you out of your seat and into breakneck mode.

Mr. Gibson’s control of voice is spectacular and his vocals range from beautiful to creepy to all out rage and can transition from one form to another in fractions of a second.

The bass and drums carry hard grooves that drive the heavy guitars and screaming melodies for an aural assault worthy of repeating again and again.

We don’t receive many submissions in the genre of metal but when we do, I want them to sound this good!

Soul Sanctuary is now on my metal bands radar permanently.

In their short time together this is what Soul Sanctuary has accomplished:

  • sharing stages with Sonic Syndicate, Guthrie Govan, Blowsight, Esoterica & Dave McPherson of the band InMe.
  • features in Metal Hammer, Total Guitar, and Bizarre Magazine
  • thousands of loyal fans via social media with a YouTube channel boasting over a million views and a Facebook page that receives thousands of comments and likes every month.

The band self-produced and self-published this record. It is supported by the band-owned label, Forsaken Memory Records.

Connect with the band on Facebook or Twitter. More importantly, visit their website and grab the album.
