Söur Bruthers Deliver Americana Infused, Country Twangin’, Söurlicious Rock on New Album

Söur Bruthers

Merging diverse influences and experiences, Söur Bruthers deliver a distinct sounding blend of roots rock with a healthy infusion of Americana and Country twang.

Their self-titled EP includes six songs that this experienced group of musicians either revived from their catalogs or created from scratch as they explored collaborating and recording while combining their wide array of styles and influences. Choosing to create this album with a DIY ethos, Bill says,

We did not want to be rushed to accommodate a studio schedule. We wanted the flexibility to record on any day and any time of day, which meant mostly at night… We have all recorded projects in professional studio settings prior to this project, but did not realize how difficult such a DIY project would be.”

The result is a cohesive collection of songs which transition seamlessly through a series of roots rockin’ frequencies guaranteed to grab your attention and possibly have you reaching for your favorite air instrument to jam along.

Opening the project with Sinkin’ Down, we are greeted with a chunky riff, sweet lead guitar tones, and hard hitting drums. I’m really impressed with how clean the drums sound in this mix. Grab another cold one and settle down for the rest of this honky tonkin’, rock and rollin’ show.

Better Days picks up the energy with upbeat guitars, uptempo drums, an  infectious organ and a memorable riff that drives the song through a well arranged composition which keeps the energy moving through the entire track.

3 a.m. slows it down just a tad with a beautiful piano melody, layered guitars which add a bit of melodic nuance, and a heartfelt vocal performance which keeps you engaged. Even though the band did not plan to put this one on the EP, it happens to be one of the more catchy, infectious jams in this line up of songs.

All I Want brings us back to the more energetic, gritty rock sounds of distorted guitars and chunky riffs infused with memorable melodies and a catchy hook. The guitar solo that kicks in around 2:20 is lovely! Those tones!

Wash Away comes at us with a less intense but equally engaging wall of sound consisting of big drums and alt-rock-esque guitar melodies. Once again I’m impressed with the tightness and clarity of the mix. The transition around 2:50 is guaranteed to grab your attention and then rock your socks off.

Closing out the EP is the bluesy Release Me. Infectious guitar riffs combine with big sounding drums to create a blues-tonkin’ soundscape that will leave you wanting more music from Söur Bruthers.

The self-titled EP is available on Bandcamp.
