Steve Hussey & Jake Eddy Deliver Authentic, Down Home Goodness on The Miller Girl

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman October 11, 2016 11:50 am Tagged With: Americana, Bluegrass, Folk

Steve Hussey and Jake Eddy-The Miller Girl

If you’re looking for a pristine blend of some authentic, good ole, down-home Bluegrass, Americana, Folk and Country music, then I’ve found exactly what you need with Steve Hussey & Jake Eddy’s new album The Miller Girl.

Originally, this power duo came together for a recording project focusing on Steve’s wedding. The next thing you know the two creatives had 10 songs and an album.

A project spanning approximately 2.5 years, the majority of the recording and production happened at Steve’s Merf Records studio with a few overdubs handled in Nashville by Cameron Rochte of Red Ridge Entertainment.

We were shooting for authenticity on this album. The songs are mostly direct, simple, and to the point. I think there is an element of innocence on this album that is missing from a lot of music these days. In a world that is increasingly scary, dark and confusing, Songs like “The Miller Girl” and “Looking or Love” I think are almost revolutionary in these dark times. I mean let’s start a conversation about the transformative power of love in the face of these confusing times. What a concept. “

The Miller Girl is set for release on November 22nd via Merf Records. You can pre-order your copy here.

Instead of going on and on about how awesome this 10 track offering is or how authentic, memorable, and catchy each song happens to be; I’ll just mention a few things about the creators behind this masterful work of musical art.

Steve is a very well known singer songwriter throughout WV and Ohio. He has played clubs in the region and headlined festivals for many years sharing stages with acts such as .38 Special, Eddie Money, the Davisson Brothers, and Jeff Ray.

Jake (a teenage, multi-instrumentalist prodigy)  has toured as part of Melvin Goins’ band, is a West Virginia state flat picking champion on guitar (second in banjo, third in mandolin) and has shared the stage with Don Rigby, Idletymes, Remington Ryde, and has played with James King. All at the ripe old age of 16.

Wait until you see and hear Jake next year…or 5 years from now…or 10 years even…

Keep your ears on this duo!
