mb: What cd is in your deck right now?

KG: Out side of my own and locals I produce, Ive really been bumpin Kendrick Lamar “Section 80” lately…dude is hella dope!

He’s a real jazzy type of artist as well as real hiphop.

mb: What made you start doing music?

KG: Honestly I come from a long line of music in my family, Both Mother’s side and Father’s side, all are either musicians, artists, songwriters, producers, etc. I feel that it was kind of destined for me to do music.

Mainly though, as a teenager I started being around my older brother a lot more, Due to the fact of different households.

He’s been producing for as long as I can remember. So I use to go to his crib and just watch him create tracks or whatever

Until I decided I wanted to try it out and this is where/who I am today. ‘KG ON THA TRACK”

mb: What new do you bring to your Genre of music?

KG: I bring a lot of Flavor and a lot of weirdness to the table I think. Honestly, I really don’t think I have a certain genre of music that I make. Most of the time while in the studio I just play with a few sounds until something feels good

To me and at when Im finished ill decide what Genre it is.

mb: Who is a local artist you are Allies with?

KG: They’re actually several Camps I do work with on a regular, Fresh II Death Records, Silent Scope Ent, Barrnone Ent,

Gangsta Alliance, PMG/Bricks Ent & Aplus Ent.

These are all different type of people that make different music and im stuck right in the middle spreading my work

mb: What type of events do you feel help boost your career?

KG: I recently competed in the 2011 Soundtrack Beat Battle . I was one out of 8 finalist to compete in the Finale since early 2011

That even alone gained me more cliental, notoriety, and more listeners. All producers want to do is to have a chance to

Be heard. Whether its at a small function or a big event, As long as I get to let you

hear what I create and actually sell my self as well as the music’s playing there’s no denying it!

mb: Whats you goal in music within the next 5 years?

KG: Within the next 5 years I want to be comfortable, still the same grind the same movement

But just at a place in my life where it could possibly be my best times.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
