Bonnaroo taps Those Darlin’s from Nashville

by C Bret Campbell February 26, 2014 2:53 pm Tagged With: Bonnaroo, Nashville, United States

Those-Darlings-Facebook

Two lines in and I was laughing hysterically, oh, this is rich! Nashville’s, Those Darlin’s have a way with lyrics that’s all too hard to come across these days. They are sure to bring some fun and good times to Bonnaroo 2014 in Manchester, TN. The Bangles meet The Kinks… that was my first thought […]

DeafHeaven coming to Bonnaroo

deafheaven

All-inclusive is the attitude at Bonnaroo (which explains former acts like Jay-Z) and it’s really a good thing over all. There’s a little bit of every style of music on the farm, including black metal. This year’s big heavy chunk is DeafHeaven from San Francisco! These dudes are all over the map playing fests and […]

Lake Street Dive

Lake Street Dive have been featured in Showtime’s “Another Day, Another Time,” and “House of Cards” on Netflix. Now they are headed to Bonnaroo in the sleepy little town of Manchester, TN. I’ve been running down their YouTube playlist this morning, and dang-it, I’m beginning to wonder how I’m going to see all the good […]

Bonnaroo Calls on St. Paul and the Broken Bones

St Paul Broken Bones BannerSt Paul Broken Bones Banner

Ooh! Brass! and Telecasters (ok, Reverends) and damn the soul in that voice! This just can’t be ignored. Bonnaroo bound St. Paul and the Broken Bones’ sound is timeless in that Motown sense. Lawdy mercy I’m swooning… Add another to the “must see” list for Bonnaroo 2014 in Manchester, TN. I think I’ve said enough. […]

The Wild Feathers to play Bonnaroo 2014

by Featured Guest February 25, 2014 9:50 pm Tagged With: Bonnaroo

The Wild Feathers will be playing at Bonnaroo 2014. I’ve been trying to figure out where they are from… Nashville, LA, Texas… all those places are mentioned in their bio, and the sounds of the areas come out in the music. Out in the wilds of the Texas country, as you scan the radio dials […]

Blank Range – Bonnaroo Bound!

BlankRange-Cassette-Facebook

Blank Range – they’ve only been a band for just under a year – Most of us have been playing together in different bands for the last two and a half years so the groundwork was laid. We had two separate bands of the same people to play each writer’s songs. Deciding it made more […]

CassMcCombs-Facebook

Still loving the Bonnaroo 2014 lineup and now I’m checking out Cass McCombs on the tube… You can find ‘im all over the place. Pitchfork has a whole tome dedicated to Cass. “OVER THE LAST DECADE, MCCOMBS HAS BEEN A REMARKABLY CONSISTENT SONGWRITER [AND] HE’S QUIETLY BECOME ONE OF AMERICA’S FINEST CHRONICLERS OF FRINGE CHARACTERS, […]

by C Bret Campbell February 22, 2014 10:21 pm Tagged With: Bonnaroo

Welcome East Tennessee’s The Black Lillies to Manchester for Bonnaroo! These guys are just too much. Beautiful, rich layers of acoustic instruments and harmonic folk melodies touch things deep inside. Oh, I hope it’s a nice night-time show at The Other Tent. ” When the Lillies weren’t playing their 200-odd gigs during 2012, they were in […]

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
