Interview with Michael Timmons – The Games Room

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman May 13, 2019 1:30 pm Tagged With: Folk, indie folk, Scotland, singer, songwriter, United Kingdom

Michael Timmons

Glasgow’s Michael Timmons is preparing to release his haunting new single, The Games Room, out now via Gargleblast Records. Off the back of supporting The Twilight Sad at their sold out show at Glasgow Barrowlands and on their European tour in November 2018, the singer songwriter continues to exhibit a sparse, angst-ridden sound. A sound that cuts deep to the soul. Written as […]

Interview with Ari – Radikoj

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman April 1, 2019 11:38 am Tagged With: Alt-Country, Alternative, Folk, Iceland, indie folk

Ari-Radikoj

Iceland based composer, instrumentalist and songwriter Ari creates charming, enchanting, vivid sonic tapestries which incorporate traditional Nordic sounds with more modern pop aesthetics. One thing is for sure, his new album Radikoj sounds like nothing else I have heard before; including other projects which incorporated traditional Nordic instrumentation. Ari has created something truly distinct and […]

Interview with Greg Jacquin – Clocks Slow Down

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman February 1, 2019 12:25 pm Tagged With: Americana, Folk, folk rock, indie folk, singer, songwriter

Greg Jacquin-Clocks Slow Down

Greg Jacquin and bandmates Paul Griffin (piano, keys, vocals), Rich Berta (guitar, vocals), Peter Wilson (drums) and Lalit Loomba (bass) recorded Clocks Slow Down, a beautiful collection of eleven original songs. The album is a sprawling statement of sadness and hopelessness, pain and suffering, rebuilding and self-discovery, with a dash of politics and humor, too. This time around, Jacquin enlisted another impressive crew of musicians for the […]

An award-winning artist from Auckland, New Zealand, Eden Iris has been described as “a writer working in a new space”. Interview with Strangers By Accident – Reckless

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman December 19, 2017 12:11 pm Tagged With: Boston, Folk, folk rock, indie folk, Massachusetts, singer, songwriter, United States

Strangers By Accident

Hailing from the same dirty-water city that birthed favorites like Aerosmith, The Pixies, and Guster, and new indie heroes like the Ballroom Thieves and Honeysuckle, Strangers by Accident are an authentic, energetic indie-folk act with an old-school respect for songwriting. Their debut EP, recorded at BearTone Records in 2016, was released less than two years […]

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
