BOYS – Summer of Love

by Featured Guest June 11, 2014 1:59 pm Tagged With: indie, lo-fi

BOYS are a lo-fi dream pop band from West London who formed in 2013 to pass some time on a rainy day, but something happened when Ross Pearce (vocals/synth), Mike Stothard (guitar/production) and Daniel Heffernon (bass) began to play together. Despite being without a drummer, or anywhere to write and practice other than one of […]

Black Crow by Juliette Jules

We’re a little late to this party but Parisian singer/songwriter Juliette Jules released her new EP (as a free download) for her 16th birthday (circa May 23rd). At 13 years of age, Juliette bought her first guitar after selling one of her paintings. Searching for a musical outlet, she became well acquainted with her new […]

WakeUpSideDowntown by Mike Delledera Band

Mike Delledera‘s genre-bending, uplifting, and imaginative songs were burning a hole in his heart but he needed some help…so he decided to tap into the power of crowd sourcing via Kickstarter. Obviously that campaign was a success because here I am presenting you with this fine piece of work, WakeUpSideDowntown. Having studied classical piano since […]

Chris & Gileah - Self Titled Album

If you’ve ever wondered what love sounds like, I think I’ve found it in the form of Chris & Gileah‘s new self-titled debut. I’m not talking about love as a special moment in time. Not the puppy love hullabaloo you can sing about for 3 minutes and 30 seconds and forget about… I’m talking about real life […]

The Space Between The Telephone Lines by Juliane Jones

The Space Between The Telephone Lines is one of most interesting albums from a singer/songwriter I have listened to in quite some time. And it was recorded in Nashville. The English/Chinese vocal ensembles of ethnomusicologist Juliane Jones elegantly intertwine languages and cultures over a soundbed of acoustic driven indie folk-pop. “Ethnomusicology and songwriting are similar […]

Carrying on the folk tradition of “music for the people, by the people”, Lizzy Lehman has arrived with her band Carry Illinois to further push this spirit in meaningful ways. She began her journey through music at an early age, but three events (during her college career) transformed Lizzy’s life and directed her onto this […]

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
