The Four Eyed Soul of Cookie Rabinowitz

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman November 12, 2013 12:56 pm Tagged With: Funk, Hip Hop, R&B, Rock, singer, songwriter, Soul

Four Eyed Soul by Cookie Rabinowitz Alt-soul singer/songwriter Cookie Rabinowitz gives us a glimpse into his Four Eyed Soul on his refreshing new record.

While trying to make ends meet, Cookie found himself working at a gentleman’s club in Philadelphia as a DJ. He soon realized he has moving further and further away from the sensitive singer/songwriter steez that defines his artistry.

Having the opportunity to work with Hip Hop legend Schoolly D, they began collaborating with Erik Horvitz on the animated urban music interview show – The Cookie Rabinowitz Show.

He soon found himself on tour not only with Schoolly D but with other legends such as Public Enemy.

“The hip-hop community really embraced me. It was eye opening. Schoolly let me do my thing and shine – I was able to sing and play guitar at 3,000 capacity venues,” Cookie recalls. “That inspired me to dive into that world.”

Backed by a crew of Philadelphia soul all stars, Cookie’s career as a solo artist is shaping up to be one of significance. I know Mr. Rabinowitz won’t be falling off my radar any time soon.

You can catch him live in Philadelphia where he is often joined on stages by names like Peedi Crack, Cee Knowledge of The Doodlebug, as well as Schoolly D.

He has also contributed his voice to TV shows The Ghost Whisperer, Men In Trees, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

This record is one of the smoothest, freshest, most interesting soul records I have jammed in quite some time.

The album is not available until January 2014, but go grab your free download of the single “Sing Alone, Sing Along”.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
