The Guitar Work of Stan Fischer

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman October 7, 2014 12:14 pm Tagged With: composer

Stan Fischer It’s safe to say that we do not receive many albums of strictly instrumental guitar music, but it’s even rarer for us to receive one packed full of catchy, grooving, and moving tunes composed on a 12-string.

Meet guitarist, composer, and performer Stan Fischer.

Based in Wisconsin and Minnesota, Stan has over 100 songs which include credits to his name. Arranging guitar solos for both 6- and 12-strings, Stan’s new focus is booking more and more shows.

After spending the past few weeks absorbing the 3 albums Stan sent to us, it is clear that Stan is original, unique, and on top of his craft.

Stan had this to say about his album The Trees Are Laughing,

“…in the musical piece, ‘the Trees are Laughing’ I thought of this song while out in the woods with my friends and I thought I actually heard the trees laughing at us. Of course they were not but the sounds that I heard were joyous and overwhelmingly and steadfastly beautiful. They were calling to me, and were saying not to worry about the stress of life, but enjoy the present moment, because now is the time to feel peace in your heart. It was like the laugher of innocent children, and I had to capture the sound I heard in my melody.”

Mr. Fischer’s ability to capture moments and recreate his experiences through sound help him further pull you into his arrangements. Stan has been compared to the likes of Leo Kottke, Paco De Lucia, Doyle Dykes but, honestly, I haven’t heard any other guitarists that sound quite like Fischer.

His other album releases include Rhumba Numba (2009) and Lovers From Beyond The Stars (2010). The Trees Are Laughing was released in 2011.

If you are looking for some new and refreshing instrumental music, Stan has plenty of compositions to offer. Packed with thoughtful melodies, toe-tapping grooves, and catchy guitar riffs; this is music you can play in the background while you are relaxing, lost in your favorite hobby, or simply wanting to hear some fresh tunes.
