Prepare To Travel The Long Dark Road

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman February 27, 2017 11:25 am Tagged With: Alternative, Canada, Metal, Punk, Toronto

TLDR-The Long Dark Road

Jeremy Cavan has traveled The Long Dark Road.

On the band’s self-titled debut album, Jeremy and his team of hardcore rockers pour out every bit of their heart, soul and musicianship into an epic, spine tingling, eardrum bursting, head banging wall of sound which explores the finer nuances of surviving in a world divided by politics, economics, philosophies, and religion as well as the effects of such an existence on mental well being.

Allow me to share an excerpt from the band’s bio:

Nearing the end of 2016, Jeremy Cavan was jobless, newly divorced, living on his brothers couch and in the throes of a long hiatus from his long-term project (U) – the band – due to financial drain and injury. He sold off what he had to cover student debt and afford himself a year to write and tour. In an industry where most musicians are clothing salespeople, Jeremy stubbornly continued to write music with the optimistic idea that music has value on its own…”

The Long Dark Road is organic, in-your-face hardcore rock that presents a fine balance between the angry screams of black metal, the pure, raw energy of punk, and tastefully placed excerpts of psychedelic awesomeness.

Including four songs, this magnum opus is a seamless 35 minute aural journey through the experiences of human life from the bottom rungs of society.

In speaking about the album, Jeremy stated,

This album saved me from the bottom, and though it has ruined me financially I’m glad to get it out and hopefully share some of my love and frustration with those who can relate. I hope it is the complete art piece that I wanted it to be.”

The Long Dark Road should be the next album added to your indie music collection.

I’ve had it on repeat for a few days now.

The band currently consists of permanent members Jeremy and Rufus Cavan and hired guns Liam Quith and Quinn Henderson who have stepped in as touring support. On the album, however, drums were performed by Toby Cavan and guitar duties were handled by Vanin Feral.
