There’s something hypnotic about “Shadows.” From the moment the track begins, KiTe uses atmospheric sounds, and emotional precision to captivate the listener.
Born in Singapore and now based in Melbourne, KiTe has quietly created space for himself as one of the most intriguing new voices in the R&B and pop scene. His sound brings together the clean, soulful polish of artists like Keshi, DEAN, and Bryson Tiller with a subtle, introspective edge. What sets him apart isn’t just his ear for lush and minimalist production but his ability to express emotion with nuance.

“Shadows” is built around soft, dreamy textures and an undercurrent of melancholy, like a message left unsent, suspended in the air.
KiTe wrote the track while reflecting on toxic relationships, not only his own but those he’s witnessed around him. There’s an ache at its core, a sense of being trapped in a cycle you can’t quite wake from. “The dark but dreamy production,” he explains, “is to paint the picture of being in a loop of bad dreams, where it’s hard to ‘wake up’ from.”
That balance between beauty and darkness is where “Shadows” shines most. The production is like a minimalist canvas where KiTe’s vocals glide effortlessly between strength and a more vulnerable edge. Each lyric carefully chosen, touching on self awareness, honesty and the quiet pain that comes with realizing that some truths can push people further away instead of bringing them closer.
Before music took centre stage, KiTe was studying engineering, a background that still influences his creative process. This technical training shows up in the way his songs are built. He started producing music at just sixteen from a dining table setup, teaching himself songwriting, recording and mixing long before stepping into professional studios. Those early days along with performances at Mando Pop singing contests (where he placed in the Top 5) and local live events.
Now with “Shadows”, KiTe is coming in to his own as a musician: “There are times where the track would vibe but there are no suitable melodies or lyrics that would fit in,” he says reflecting on his process. “It shows the disconnect between the track and me as an artist at the point of time.”
