The Regency Is A Collective Creating Engaging Originals and Covers, Listen to Newest Releases

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman January 25, 2018 11:08 am Tagged With: producer, singer, songwriter

The Regency-Dear Prudence

If you missed our previous interview with producer Robert Smith of The Regency, make sure to check that out (opens in new tab).

The Regency is a collective of creatives dedicated to producing enticing originals and refreshing covers such as their latest rendition of The Beatles’ Dear Prudence.

Flipping The Beatles original on it’s head, The Regency has delivered an eerily downtempo, melancholic, electrified alt-rockin’ makeover of this acoustic driven, pop classic. Chunky guitars seamlessly blend with beautifully toned electric melodies, a slow but driving rhythm, and a gritty, raw aesthetic to the lead vocals which results in a surprising but extremely refreshing cover.

I am really digging the soundscape created for this cover. You can share and playlist it on Soundcloud.

The Regency also write and record originals. You Don’t Leave Me features the soothing vocals of New Jersey native Kyra B. Growing up in the musical theater world with a family who had their own studio, Kyra B is now attending Boston University and toplines for independent producers. She recently collaborated with läzro & Travis Gibb (son of Bee Gee Barry) on a forthcoming single titled Take Me Home.

You Don’t Leave Me is an alternative-rock, R&B infused pop jam featuring smooth melodies, intricately woven instrumentation, a rhythm that leaves the body swaying and a sonic layer cake that tingles the senses. As Kyra B sings “you say you don’t love me but you don’t leave me”, the listener is drawn into a soulful ballad which explores the intricacies of feeling stuck in a relationship. The male harmonies that kick in add the perfect spice to this engaging, memorable single.

You Don’t Leave Me is available on Soundcloud (where you can share and playlist it).

The Regency was formed by Global Heist Recordings in association with Neurodisc Records.
