Thunderbird Deliver Hard Rockin’ and Rollin’ on Heavyweight

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman October 4, 2016 8:47 am Tagged With: 80s rock, Rock

Thunderbird
Sometimes I just need some good old rock and roll in my life and thanks to this awesomesauce new album, Heavyweight, from Thunderbird, I’ve found the fix I need.

I managed to grab an interview with the band about the new album, you can find that gem here.

Originally formed in Vancouver, Canada in 2003, Thunderbird released an album, What’s The Word?, in 2006. The first single ‘No Prisoners‘ was #1 for several weeks on Boost Independent Music and also charted in the Top 10 in Mike Cameo’s Indie Rock out of Cincinnati, Ohio.

For the next 10 years the band would go silent, rising from various corners of the globe including Canada, Australia, the UK and Costa Rica to deliver another healthy dose of rock and roll with their new album Heavyweight.

Let me introduce you to the members of the band and brag on some of their accomplishments:

  • Marc LaFrance (vocals) tours with Bachman & Turner and has sung on albums by Motley Crue, David Lee Roth, The Cult & many more.
  • Rod Coogan (guitar) has played in progressive rock bands in Australia & Japan.
  • Rob Becker (bass) records and tours internationally with many artists
  • Tim Rath (bass) is a multi-instrumentalist who now lives and performs in Costa Rica
  • Kelly Stodola, one of Vancouver’s in-demand session musicians, on drums!

Whether you’re rocking out to Earth, Run For The Border, Baton Rouge, Bloody Mary, or The Sea, each of the 16 retro hard rockin’ compositions packed into Heavyweight will have you grabbing your favorite air instrument without thinking twice.

Thunderbird know how to rock and they do it with style.

Heavyweight is the perfect album for any listener who appreciates their hard rock with a refined blend of 70s and 80s stylings.

Be sure to add this one to your collection.

You can connect with the band on Facebook or subscribe on YouTube.

Please excuse me while I return to my epic air-jam session!

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
