Indie Music Spotlight – Top Hip Hop Picks

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman June 20, 2016 10:10 am Tagged With: Hip Hop, indie music spotlight, rap, top picks

AJ Bank$y – Nothing Less

AJ Bank$y is a hip-hop artist out of Atlanta, GA, originally from Palm Bay, FL.

The song “Nothing Less” is track 2 from AJ’s latest EP “In a Room Full of Songstresses in Sundresses” which dropped in January of this year.

The song is really about perseverance. The time period surrounding the EPs creation and release was a very low point in my life. I was struggling with distrust from people I considered friends, I was failing several of my college courses, and ultimately fighting an ongoing internal battle regarding my purpose. The music was very much a release and a way to vent about the things I couldn’t comprehend at the time. As the hook says, I am a firm believer not necessarily in karma but the idea that all actions have consequence, and those consequences are what will determine your fate. Through all of my adversity, I choose to keep enduring, and I take solace in the fact that even if I lose everything, I’ll always have my heart of gold to offer the world.
