Indie Music Spotlight by Middle Tennessee Music

As I type this I am sitting on 100+ unopened music submissions which is bittersweet…

As much as I want to open, read about, and listen to every single band, songwriter and musician fighting for attention, it’s just not possible.

Enter Top Inbox Picks where, once a week, I will feature some of my favorite submissions that have piled up in my inbox. You can discover even more indie music by following or subscribing to our playlists on Spotify, YouTube and Soundcloud.

Without futher ado and in no particular order…

George Woods Band – Highest Love

I was excited to find new music from George Woods. We featured George a while back in support of a previous project and once again his band delivers a tasty jam.

Find more music and social media links on the band’s website.

Austin Scott – Big Blue World (video)

Austin Scott has been writing and performing his music for over 15 years. Born and raised in Detroit, MI, he also spent some time living and performing in Nashville, TN before moving back to the D to continue building his career. A gifted songwriter, he has released several albums on iTunes and is always working on a new project. He has been seen on stages across the United States, and has been heard around the world with airtime on radio stations as far as the Netherlands.

While his primary genre is Country, Austin also includes hints of Rock, Pop and Folk into his sound, creating a unique blend loved even by those who “don’t like Country.”

Visit Austin’s website for more music and links to social media.

Sarantos – The Silence Doesn’t Bother Me

Silence is all around. Sometimes it’s present despite being in a crowded room. Sometimes it is one’s only companion. Some are scared of silence. Some relish it. Some cannot function in silence. Some thrive on it. Silence affects us all differently. Sarantos newest song is about being comfortable in the silence despite the storm thundering loudly outside.

D WEBB – Bounce

Hip-hop recording artist D WEBB debuts “Bounce” the second release off his upcoming mixtape titled Bringin’ Back Classics that will consist of hip-hop based productions inspired by classic songs and samples from a wide range of genres.

D WEBB produced and wrote this remix of Jay Z’s “Can I Get A..” (1998) by sampling Jay Z’s intro lyrics “Bounce with me, bounce with me” and transforming it into an instant banger. The catchy hook added with his concise and sharp verses makes for a great tune that is sure to be a crowd pleaser!

Zina – Everything I Feel

Zina Eve Cantave is a Montreal-born world music singer a unique voice in the Canadian Music Scene. She has performed in Montreal, Canada and other cities. Her international itinerary has included the United States, Jamaica and the Caribbean.

Zina’s musical repertoire has been steadily infused with a blend of Pop, Jazz, R&B, Gospel, Haitian and French African influences, along in English, French, Creole, and her Caribbean roots to create joyful sound.

From the Balcony – Little Girl Blue

I just love the vibes and the sound of this one. Connect with From The Balcony on YouTube or the official website.

Jameson Elder – Fine Wine

We’ve featured Jameson before and this new single is definitely fine like wine. Visit Jameson’s website for more goodness.

Vessbroz – Don’t Get Me Wrong

I can’t help but wonder how much fun Vessbroz had making this one. Get ready to move to the groove on this one.

Know-Madik – Grade A ft LDontheCut

The funky, energetic, bass driven track delivers top notch lyricism with a classic, fun throwback feel accompanied by raw turntablism from LdontheCut (Dj for Sublime with Rome).

Monkeyz Project – Walking Life

Monkeyz Project’s new album “Life” is a multi genre music project including elements of electronic, rock, instrumental, acoustic and metal. Connect on their website.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
