More Connected but More Isolated Than Ever, Ultra_eko Takes us Off The Grid on New Album

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman September 24, 2020 9:42 am Tagged With: Hip Hop, London, rap, United Kingdom

Ultra_eko-Off The Grid

From the streets of South London and the creative mind of Ultra_eko, Off The Grid delivers a hard hitting flurry of potent, highly relevant lyrical assaults to our ears.

Matched by an engaging selection of thoroughly enjoyable, infectious Hip Hop instrumentation, Off The Grid is an impactful, 11-track album that is worthy of repeat listens and a save to your music library.

Following up on his previous project, the more experimental Kitchen Sink Dramas, Off The Grid‘s more accessible appeal is immediately obvious from the moment you click play. From that moment on, you will be glued to your headphones, head bangin, neck swangin’, intently listening to the passionate flows and relatable storytelling in the distinct style that comes courtesy of Ultra_eko. The music will carry you through a range of emotions, soundscapes and moods ranging from upbeat and danceable to gritty and dark but still reflective and even the 8-bit, melodically rich My Life (track 10).

Emphasizing the lyrical potency of the album, the songs on Off The Grid often find technology as a central pillar, thematically speaking. Whether listening to Wifi Wifey, Eternal Sunshine, Alexander Cazes or Boy Done Good, it becomes apparent quite quickly that Off The Grid is a powerful statement to how much disconnect and dissonance has been created by our hyper-connected, never-offline existence.

Off the Grid is a potent Hip Hop album. Listen on Spotify.
