Scottish five-piece Vigo Thieves make a welcome return with the release of their debut album Heartbeats, out now via Hijacked Records.

Heartbeats delivers an explosion of sound from the offset. Filled with thumping piano chords, soaring synths and lead singer Stevie Juke’s high flying vocals, this is an album that is unashamedly huge and ready to rock. Vigo Thieves have managed to create a stadium sound that fans of pop rock outfits such as The Killers will feel at home with. Each track is undeniably catchy and will have you singing along to its feel-good pop beats and infectious melodies.

In this interview spotlight, we discuss the new album, influences, digital music and more.

Full Q&A along with links, the video for Heartbeats as well as a preview of the album.

Let’s dive a little deeper into You, the artist and your music. What attracted you to this genre(s) or style(s)?

As much of a cliche as this is these songs were written from the Heart & Soul and thats the way they sounded when played out.

How long have you been creating and sharing your music with the public?

7 years

Who or what influences your playing and/or writing? Also, what motivates you to keep going?

Bruce Springsteen was big influence as well as U2, New Order and Fourteeners  We are all motivated differently but one thing that we share is a passion for playing live and the energy that gives and takes from us

Were you trying to accomplish anything specific on this new project? Creatively or otherwise?

The album is a culmination of 7 years work. A collection of our strongest songs to date.

What was the last song you listened to?

Client Liaision – Wildlife Only just discovered it last night and love it.

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?

Vinyl for the feel/smell/product, MP3s for the ease of use and mobility

How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?

Spotify because it was the first streaming platform I used and enjoy making playlists on it

Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what are one or two of the biggest challenges you face when trying to attract listeners to your music?

You need to make use of everything you can to get people to listen to your music so do lots of gigs in new places, make cool or unique videos and ultimately giving stuff away for free is the only way to get new listeners to your music.

Do you gig, tour or perform? Do you ever live stream? Where can music lovers see you live?

We have just done an album launch gig in Glasgow and before it we done a Facebook live stream of a rehearsal which was much bigger than we expected. We have no other touring plans in place at the moment though.

Where is the best place to connect with you online? Discover more of your music?

The album Heartbeats is on Spotify and Apple Music etc. and also keep an eye on our socials and website for future releases/tour dates www.vigothieves.com

Any last thoughts? Shout outs? Words of wisdom?

Word of wisdom would be live in the moment, if you have something that your holding back and waiting to release one day, just do it now, no need to wait for tomorrow!
