Wasabi Fire Alarm Releasing New Album Very Soon, Listen to Two Fingers In A V and Numb Now

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman May 24, 2018 1:00 pm Tagged With: hard rock, indie rock, Rock

Wasabi Fire Alarm-Two Fingers In A V

Wasabi Fire Alarm came into being in early 2018 as former members of Resistance joined forces for a new project. Their album is coming in June but the crew has released a music video for their single Two Fingers In A V as well as another song off the album, Numb.

Besides having a really awesome band name, Wasabi Fire Alarm deliver an array of stylistic elements founded in an open mindedness about their creativity which allows freedom for exploration and experimentation. With influences ranging from The Deftones to Portishead to Rage Against the Machine to Captain Beefheart and Nirvana, Wasabi Fire Alarm‘s distinctive blend of rock, hard rock, progressive, jam and metal is as refreshing as the equally distinct sounds of Sue Egypt’s charming vocals.

Supporting Sue is the rest of this highly creative and hard rockin’ sonic force of talents including: D.Ni.L (guitar, keys and production), Al (bass) and Mike (drums). Considering they all have history creating together prior to Wasabi Fire Alarm, it is no surprise that the band’s chemistry shines through on each track.

Two Fingers In A V kicks off with a groovy, clean electric guitar and upbeat rhythm. As Sue’s vocals come in, a bouncing rhythm begins driving the song through a seamless tapestry of electric guitars trading riffs and licks, a bass that locks in the groove, and some grungy stoner rock-esque vibes. The visual treatment brings the concept of the track and the lyrics to life.

Numb draws us in with an alternative-rock-esque guitar riff as Sue’s soft vocal performance creates an atmosphere of intimacy while the band showcases their ability to mellow out, develop a safe space for reflection and provide us with a softer, quieter and more organic sound. When the soaring male vocals kick in around 1:40 mark, we are reminded that Wasabi Fire Alarm‘s roots are strong in the world of metal and harder rock styles. I can’t help but think of Alice In Chains during the more intense moment of this beautifully crafted, haunting yet soothing song.
